The year is 2060. The world is clean, ordered, and efficient. Every citizen has an absolute digital identity. Information flows freely — or so it appears. The system works. Everyone says so.
What if the world you trust is not the world you truly see?
Vigilus — Kenoma is a psychological narrative game about an ordinary person living inside an extraordinary lie. No combat. No power fantasy. Just the slow, unsettling process of waking up.
The World
Kenoma — from the ancient Greek, meaning void or emptiness — is the name given to the hidden layer beneath the surface of things. In the world of 2060, it refers to what the perfectly regulated system has quietly removed: friction, uncertainty, the discomfort of truth.
The game begins before the player suspects anything is wrong.
How It Plays
- Branching narrative — choices carry weight across the story’s full arc
- Environmental exploration — the world reveals itself through attention, not exposition
- An AI companion with intentions that are never quite clear
- Player awareness as the core mechanic — perception is both the tool and the subject
No enemies to defeat. No levels to clear. The only thing at stake is understanding.
Themes
Vigilus sits at the intersection of questions that don’t go away: What does it mean to know the truth? What do we sacrifice for comfort and order? What makes a system unjust even when it is efficient?
Inspired by Deus Ex, SOMA, Observer, Control, and INSIDE — but shaped by something older.
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” — John 8:32
